Racial discrimination in employment in Quebec
The Observatory project emerged from the observation of the persistence of racial inequalities and discriminatory practices in many spheres of society, such as employment, the health system, justice, housing and education. A situation that affects, among others, people of color and immigrants, thus undermining their full civic participation and socio-economic integration in Quebec. Faced with such a situation, our Observatory will first look at the employment environment, which represents a fundamental sector that makes it possible to ensure real independence and financial autonomy for everyone in order to better integrate into society and constitute subsequently a force for change.
In this context, we are organizing this event to share the presentation of the results of a new research project that focuses on racial discrimination in employment in Quebec. It will take place on June 1, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center St-Pierre, located at 1212 rue Panet – Room 200, Montreal, Quebec H2L 2Y7.
This work was started in 2020 by the Observatory of Racial Inequalities in Quebec (OIRQ), a body that was set up by Alternatives and funded by Heritage Canada as part of its new program of action and fight against racism.
